Upcoming Tastings at Cork & Barrel 23rd:

Welcome back to Cork & Barrel's Wine Class Series. This class is featuring Alexana and Revana Wines. Revana Winery was started by Doctor Madaiah Revana, who later partnered with Lynn Penner-Ash to create Alexana Winery.
The story of Revana Family Winery began with a trip to Tuscany. Wine was a passionate hobby for Dr. Revana, and he dreamt of turning that hobby into a career. After returning from Italy, he was determined to start his own winery. In 1997, the dreams of owning a vineyard became a reality. He found a property on the West benchland in St. Helena and brought in viticulturist Jim Barbour and winemaker Heidi Barrett. Together they produced the first vintage in 2001. It was crucial for Dr. Revana to control every aspect of the winemaking process to achieve his goal of making one of the best wines in the world. They began construction of the Revana Estate winery, which opened in 2004. Soon after, the 2007 Revana Estate Cabernet Sauvignon was named the #4 wine in the world by Wine Spectator. Meanwhile, in 2005 while representing his Napa winery at a wine conference in Houston, Dr. Revana met Lynn Penner-Ash, of Willamette Valley Penner-Ash Cellars. Dr. Revana and Lynn Penner-Ash became fast friends over their shared love for Burgundian wines. In the spring, Dr. Revana enlisted Lynn’s expertise in a search for both the ideal piece of land and an experienced winemaker to produce American Pinot Noirs, that would rival Burgundy. His search ended with an 80-acre estate that was largely unplanted, and Lynn agreed to make the wines at her facility for the first seven years fastforward to 2013: Alexana’s 2010 Revana Vineyard Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir scored 94 points and was named #17 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines. This marks the second winery of Dr. Revana’s to be named to this famed list. Constantly striving for the best possible wine, Dr. Revana's passion for quality is truly reflected in the wines he and his partners make.
In this class, we will be tasting a range of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Napa Valley Cabernet. Taste the hard work and dedication of Dr. Revana and experience the outstanding quality. This class will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, 6-7pm at 1801 W. 23rd St. in Lawrence, Ks., hope to see you there.
